The Silver Legion was a far-right, pro-Nazi, anti-Semitic and white supremacist organization in the United States which was active during the 1930s. It was founded by William Dudley Pelley, a former journalist and science fiction writer who believed in the supremacy of the Aryan race and advocated for a fascist dictatorship in America.
The Silver Legion adopted a militaristic and paramilitary style, with members wearing silver uniforms and insignia. They promoted anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, advocated for the deportation of Jewish people, and called for a return to what they saw as traditional American values.
The group was relatively small and never gained widespread support, but they did engage in activities such as marches, rallies, and propaganda dissemination. In 1936, Pelley ran for President of the United States as the candidate of the Christian Party, a political arm of the Silver Legion, but he only received a small fraction of the vote.
The Silver Legion eventually disbanded in 1942 after the United States entered World War II and Pelley was arrested and convicted of sedition. The organization is now considered a relic of America's troubled history with white supremacy and extremism.
